Dog attacks in the UK have risen by 40% from the years 2004 to 2008 reaching almost 3,800 dog attacks a year with some areas seeing attacks by dogs increasing by as much as 80%.
In the United States, there are estimated to be 74.8 million dogs. A national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta survey estimates that 2% of the US population are victims of attacks by dogs annually (4.7 million people). In 2007, there were 33 deaths related to dog attacks. |
